There is no single price for a small skid steer, and any site that publishes one is guessing. Quotes move with configuration, region, freight, dealer inventory position, financing program and time of year. What you can control is how you compare offers.
The line items that move a quote most
- Undercarriage: tires versus tracks, and track compound if tracked.
- Hydraulics: standard versus high flow, which also gates which attachments you can run.
- Cab configuration: open station, enclosed cab, heat, air conditioning.
- Attachments: the coupler, the tools themselves, and whether a bucket is actually included.
- Freight, dealer prep and delivery, which are frequently quoted separately.
- Warranty and service plan terms.
New versus used
Used inventory in the small classes is deep, which helps buyers. Hours matter, but condition matters more: undercarriage life on tracked machines, hydraulic leaks, loader arm and pin wear, and service history. Ask for maintenance records and budget an inspection.
